FAQ

A selection of our most frequently asked questions. For more answers either contact us or visit our FAQ page.
How much does house clearance cost?

The cost for a house clearance really depends on a number of factors. Primarily the size of the house and the amount of items that need to be removed. The type of items that need to be removed can sometimes affect the cost also. For full house clearances it is always best for us to visit the property to allow us to offer an accurate quote. As a guide house clearances can cost between £250 and £1000. Our minimum charge is £60.

What’s included in your house clearance service?

Our hassle-free house clearance service includes the responsible removal of all / any items and waste that needs to be cleared from a property. This can include but is not limited to furniture, mattresses, white goods, clothes, small items, electronics and general waste & rubbish. We can clear an entire house including garages, lofts/attics, gardens and garden sheds.

We work with our customers to identify exactly what needs to be cleared. Everything that is removed is then responsibly recycled, sent for reuse or disposed of. If a customer prefers to keep something we can leave it in the property, take it to storage or can even take valuable items to local auction houses on behalf of the customer.

Before we finish we always hoover the property and give it a final tidy so it is ready for it's next chapter.

House clearance can be very hard work. Our experienced team can make the process easy and stress-free from beginning to end.

Can I get money back for items that need clearing?

Sometimes yes. If there is something of particular resale value we are happy to negotiate the quote with that in mind. Alternatively for items of significant value we can work with you to get those items to auction.

Do you need a licence to provide house clearance services?

Yes. It is vitally important that whichever house clearance provider you chose is fully licensed by the environment agency. This ensures that everything the provider collects will be disposed of correctly and legally. Otherwise there is a risk of fly-tipping which could result in a fine of up to £50,000 for the original owner of the waste. Everett’s House Clearance are also fully insured.

What do you do with the items you collect?

Environmental sustainability is a core focus for us. We aim to send zero to landfill and go the extra mile to recycle, reuse or repurpose the majority of what we collect. We have good relationships with various recycling operations around the country meaning we can recycle a lot more than you’d expect. Plastics, wood, paper and metal can all be recycled but also mattresses, sofas and even white goods including fridges and freezers. Other items will be donated to charity or resold.

Can you help with sensitive or difficult house clearances?

Yes we can. And this is one of our specialisms. Whether it’s a house clearance after bereavement or a hoarding situation we’re able to offer an empathetic and understanding house clearance service. Working together with our customers to make sure the experience is as painless as possible. Our team take specialist training in areas such as grief and bereavement awareness and hoarding. And we are always looking to improve our skills and knowledge in these areas.

Can the council provide house clearance for free?

At the time of writing it does not look like any councils in our service area provide full house clearance services. Many will offer bulky item removal but often this comes with a charge similar to ours but it can be quite difficult to get an appointment and often they will not enter your house to take the item so you need to get it outside yourself. Relevant council links with further information are below.

Do local charities provide house clearances?

Yes, many do. But they are not always free and in our experience charities can be quite picky in what they will take so often leave you with all the rubbish or items without resale value to deal with separately. Everett’s House Clearance will clear everything that needs to be cleared. If you would like items donated to charity we can do this as part of our service.
